In-Kind Donations
Arise Lawrence County accepts donations of new and gently used items to support the basic needs of all program participants; although, most items are used for individuals engaged in housing services (i.e. emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid re-housing, and permanent supportive housing). All items are distributed to program participants on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the agency is not able to accommodate any special donor requests related to the distribution of their in-kind donations.
WE CANNOT ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: cribs, used car seats, large furniture, used undergarments, clothes with stains or holes, electronics, and no broken or damaged items.
Any item received that exceeds what is needed to support program participants will be used for the agency’s yard sale fundraiser. All funds raised at this event go directly back into the agency’s operations budget to support programs and services.
The agency keeps a needs list which is updated monthly and published via social media, website, and email newsletters. This list informs which donation items can be most useful. At times, when the agency’s capacity and ability to use certain items like clothing and household supplies is at capacity, a decision will be made to restrict the acceptance of these items. This information will also be updated monthly and published via social media, website, and email newsletters.
Donations can be accepted at 1218 W. State St. during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm). All donations accepted outside of these hours must be confirmed in advance and is based on the availability of staff members to be present to accept the items. The donation drop-off site is in the rear parking lot. Donations should not be brought directly into the business office or emergency shelter unless prior approval has been given, or unless it is a food donation.
All donors will be asked to complete a “Charitable In-Kind Donation Receipt” regardless of whether they wish to receive a receipt and letter of donation for tax purposes. This helps our agency to track important in-kind donation information which is used as match for our federal and state grants.
