FT; 37.5 hrs/week. The Emergency Shelter Advocate is responsible for maintaining 24-hour coverage of the shelter, hotline, and the upkeep of the Emergency Shelter facility. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Demonstrate compassion towards individuals experiencing domestic violence or victims of sexual assault in need of emergency housing following a housing first module.
Assisting victims of domestic violence and homeless individuals with access to temporary emergency shelter and other emergency resources.
Helping survivors create a safety plan of action.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the Emergency Shelter.
Model trauma-informed care standards for program participants and the community.
Maintain a strong understanding of the intersection of crime victimization, trauma, and housing.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of program work plans and funding guidelines and perform job duties accordingly.
Maintain participant files and data entry systems.
