Emergency Shelter Advocate
FT; 37.5 hrs/week. Responsible for maintaining 24-hour coverage of the shelter, hotline, and for the upkeep of the Emergency Shelter Facility. General duties include assisting victims of domestic violence and homeless individuals with access to temporary emergency shelter and other emergency resources, helping survivors in creating a safety plan of action, maintain the cleanliness of Emergency Shelter, maintain client files and data entry systems including, but not limited to, case notes, service plans, and other important program participant documentation. Paralegal
General Description: FT; 37.5 hours/week -The Paralegal is responsible for providing legal support to the Managing Attorney to assist with legal representation of individuals and families victimized by domestic violence and interpersonal violence. The Paralegal will review referrals made by staff at Arise, meet with the referred clients, prepare legal pleadings and filings, attend court matters as needed, maintain electronic files in a document management system, maintain paper files in compliance with Pennsylvania Coalition of Domestic Violence standards, and maintain an electronic calendar. The Paralegal will be trained in providing trauma informed care when interviewing clients and understanding the unique circumstances of crime victims and their families. Familiarity with the practice areas of Family Law and Landlord Tenant Law preferred.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist Managing Attorney in the legal representation of individuals and families affected by domestic violence and interpersonal violence.
- Initial intake and review of cases referred to by the Agency including conflict checking.
- Maintain client files and data entry systems including, but not limited to, referral and intake notes, case notes, documentation of legal filings, calendar events, and other important program participant documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Lawrence County Court calendar.
- Assist with drafting correspondence and pleadings.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and also work as part of a team.
- Ability to review household income levels to determine how to file cases.
Education and/or Experience:
1-2 years of relevant paralegal or law firm experience preferred. Bi-lingual and/or Bi-Cultural preferred.
Education & Outreach Coordinator
The Education & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and oversight of community-based services including training, awareness, education and prevention programming and providing these services as needed. This position assists with the training and onboarding of new staff and volunteers and social media management. The Education & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the projects outlined in all grant-funded and other work plans while ensuring compliance with federal, state and other program standards.
